History of World Earth Day

In view of the indiscriminate felling of forests and trees in the 60-70s, in September 1969 at a conference in Seattle, Washington, US Senator Gerald Nelson of Wisconsin announced the celebration of Earth Day.

After this environmental protection became a nationwide mass movement, in which American schools, colleges participated enthusiastically.

After this this nationwide mass movement started spreading in other countries as well and today it is being celebrated continuously since the year 1970. The 51st anniversary of World Earth Day will be celebrated on 22 April 2022.

Earth Day was officially designated by the United Nations in the year 2009 to celebrate as International Mother Earth Day.
